It seems a Leftist putsch against freedom of speech is in full-flight in the UK. A few examples, some obvious, some insidious have crystallised my belief that the ability to voice your opinions is going the way of the Dodo.
The first was the so-called ‘mental patient’ Halloween costume withdrawn for sale by Asda and apologised for by lickspittle cowards afraid to offend the professionally-offended.The point is not whether the use of the term ‘mental patient’ is offensive or inaccurate, or whether a quarter of people suffer from some form of mental health issue. The point is one of freedom of speech and expression. And why should a Halloween costume be factually-accurate anyway? Despite my wishes to the contrary vampires, zombies and werewolves are fictitious creatures, yet they are All Hallows Eve staples.
The phrase ‘mental patient’ again raised ire this week from the Fascist Left’s censors. The front page of The Sun newspaper on Monday featured the alarming headline: “1,200 killed by mental patients”. According to Marxist rag The New Statesman, the headline was slammed immediately by ‘a spokesperson’ (surely spokesman or spokeswoman?) for Andy Burnham, whose own approach where health services are concerned leaves something to be desired.
And then we come to the real story, Miliband’s old man ‘hating Britain’ and the confected outrage from Labour. The Labour Party is becoming an organised mob intent on destroying freedom in this country. Obviously the howls of derision clacked banshee-like at the right-wing press coincide with this week’s assault on freedom of speech – the return of Leveson. Miliband, attacked the “culture and practices” of the Daily Mail, a chilling phrase which echoed the hatchet man of the free press. And a march, organised by Labour darling Owen Jones, saw halfwits protesting against freedom of speech on Sunday.
These are dark times. All who value freedom must now stand up and be counted.
