This year is turning out to be one of the most unbelievably incredible times in human history. So much has happened and is currently happening; it is awe-striking to think of the records that is being written in this very moment. It is an awesome time to be alive and existing in a world where every person can truly make a difference. Every voice can be heard easier and spread farther than ever before.
We have had despicable lows. The dark knight of whistleblowers, Ed Snowden, revealed the depraved nature of NSA spy programs. The Internal Revenue Service purposely hamstrung Tea Party groups by bogging down their non-profit applications in a bureaucratic sand storm. On top of that, the violence continued. The Boston Bombing, shootings, wars and senseless death.
What makes this time shine are the victories. Despite the violence, we are living in the most peaceful time in our species’ existence. Despite the mainstream media hype, gun violence has dropped 49% in the past 10 years. Despite the continued efforts to censor the web, stamp out whistleblowers and intimidate the free press, all of that has remained virtually unimpeded. The enormous gun grabbing effort that followed the Sandy Hook shooting was all but shredded to pieces. First the British, then the American people stood up and said no to another war, this time in Syria. Now as the fight against Obamacare continues, all these efforts can be attributed to one group of people: The Liberty Movement.
The Liberty Movement has been the spearhead, muscle and driving force behind all the roadblocks against big government and overreach. Where was the anti-war left, that was so vocal against Bush, when Obama was pushing Syria? Where were the Neocons when the Democrats came after the guns? It was the Liberty Movement, fueled by the internet and supercharged by the alternative media that won those victories.
However, we must never let our guard down. Big government advocates and their representatives in D.C. did not get the reputation of being control freaks for no reason. They didn’t get their war in Syria, they didn’t get our guns and they have failed to shut down the dissent on the internet. The Middle East and North Africa are still extremely unstable from the so called “Arab Spring”. Terrorist activity seems to be on the rise and the first thing suggested is to restrict liberties based on a perceived threat. Continue to watch, question everything and be skeptical.
