Nobel prize winning economist, Milton Friedman continues to be an inspiration to economists and politicians aspiring to better society. He has researched and written extensively on free trade, the role of government within the domestic and global marketplace, policy effects on economic growth, and universal basic income.
Friedman’s more populist views come from his comments on education and, even more relevant right now, healthcare.
Since the Affordable Care law (Obamacare) rollout has begun, many have questioned the role of government within healthcare. In the chaos of todays media, it seems everyone has an opinion on Obamacare, sometimes without even fully understanding it.
Certainly Friedman had a more general opinion on how government can involve itself in the medical care field. Of course, Friedman did personally see and comment on the implementation of Obamacare, but his comments in the past can be compared with the events of the present.
